HAMMERHEAD

From Concept to Immersive Experience

RobArch 2024: Beyond Optimization

HAMMERHEAD is a spaceship born during the Dropship Joyride workshop at the RobArch 2024 conference in Toronto. The workshop was hosted by AutoDesk and introduced the concept of kitbashing, where we assembled multiple model kits into one final aircraft. Once constructed, the ships were carefully painted to bring out unique textures and details. These physical models were then digitally scanned and imported into MAYA, allowing us to refine and manipulate them digitally using the MIMIC plug-in. This powerful tool allowed us to create elaborate choreography for the KUKA robot arms to perform with ease. The project was a fascinating fusion of traditional model-making techniques and cutting-edge digital tools, setting the stage for a broader exploration of narrative, design and film making.

Building on the HAMMERHEAD, I expanded its scope by designing and developing the interior spaces using Blender and Unreal Engine. To enhance the experience, I added detailed textures, VFX systems, and interactive elements. I also rigged and animated characters to bring the environment to life.

To complement the scene, I designed and modelled a unique character, BOUNCEY, whose playful design adds personality and humour to the project.
